Organizational Structure

FIA is governed by the General Assembly having 24 members and more than half are women, which is the highest governing body of the organization. It also has a Management Board whose members are composed of qualified and experienced citizens from diverse background. The Director General of FIA is a nonvoting member of the Management Board. The highest position of the association like board chair man, Executive Directors and head finance is occupied by women. The General Assembly has the responsibility of approving annual progress and financial reports, audit report, budgets, policy procedures and other high level decisions. The Management Board is elected by the General Assembly from its members. The Board is directly responsible to the General Assembly. The Management Board monitors the overall activities of the organization against the set objectives.

There is also a Management Committee comprised of Directors of Operations, Finance, PR and Resources Mobilization and sponsorship and Human Resources. The Director General heads the Management Committee and makes decisions related to project formulation, implementation, supervision, follow up and over issues that need to be brought to the attention of the Board. The office constitutes two departments, Finance and Administration and Programmes. FIA has eleven full time staffs and two volunteers who are actively supporting project and activities.

Organizational Capacity

Personnel:

FIA has a well articulated Personnel and Administration Manual and staff training policy. Its staff have developed their capacity of project planning & implementation, project monitoring and evaluation, organizational leadership and management, strategic planning, finance and personnel management, organizing and managing capacity building programs through taking part in various training, experience sharing and field practice within and outside the country.

Financial:

The finance and goods management is carried out based on the financial manual of the organization. FIA's finance department has separate duties with crosschecking control mechanism. Dully-recognized external audit firms annually conduct both fixed asset inventory and financial auditing. FIA applies Peachtree computerized accounting system using 2007 version.

Office Location and Set-up:

FIA head office located in Addis Ababa, and two regional equipped liaison offices in Benishangul Gumuz Reginal State, Metekel Zone Pawe and Mandura Woreda and Oromia Regional State Adama Zone Wonji Gefersa Woreda.
